Forza Horizon 2 for X360 and XONE is a sequel to the spin-off of Forza Motorsport series. Similarly as its predecessor, the game presents a slightly less serious approach to racing. The Xbox 360 version was powered by the same engine as the one used in the previous installment in the series. It was developed by Sumo Digital, studio known mostly for Broken Sword: The Angel of Death and the new installments of the racing series Outrun. The fathers of the original series, Turn 10, contributed to the creation of the game.

In contrast to the first Forza Horizon, the second game takes place not in the Colorado State of USA, but in Southern Europe. The area is filled with beautiful landmarks and the main theme of the races is once again a techno-cultural festival. The player can travel through a varied sandbox world by using luxury vehicles like Lamborghinis, Nissans and Fords.

The key changes in comparison to the first entry in the series are dynamically changing weather conditions and the Drivatar system known from Forza Motorsport 5 that generates an artificial intelligence based on actions of players from across the world.
