Survival, just like the vanilla game, was developed by Ubisoft Massive, a studio experienced with online titles. Similarly to the first add-on, Underground, Survival first debuted on Xbox One and then came out for PC and PlayStation 4 a month later. The Division is a political thriller in which New York is faced with a biological terrorist attack.

Each mission can be completed in multiple different ways, but most of them require guile and stealth.
