A real-time strategy, set in the fantasy world from George R.R. Martin's novels and based on the license of the popular TV series. Game of Thrones: War for Westeros features several playable factions, including the undead led by the Night King. Their goal is to take control over the titular land.
Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is an RTS set in the fantasy universe created by George R.R. Martin for the needs of the series of books titled A Song of Ice and Fire. The game was developed by the Australian company PlaySide, which has in its portfolio titles such as Kill Knight and Age of Darkness: Final Stand.
In Game of Thrones: War for Westeros we watch the action from a bird's eye view.
The game takes us to the titular land of Westeros, in the version known from the Game of Thrones TV series. We can lead one of the sides of the conflict in the game, which are fighting for control over the entire land.
The game gives us access to three great houses of Westeros, namely Stark, Lannister, and Targaryen. We can also play as the Night King commanding an army of the dead.
Our task is to lead the chosen faction to victory and domination over the others, which we can achieve by commanding its forces in the most important battles fought in real time. On the battlefield, we have a wide range of units at our disposal, including infantry and cavalry, but also siege machines, giants, and even dragons. There is also no shortage of characteristic heroes representing individual factions here.
Each faction has its strengths and weaknesses, which we need to understand and use appropriately. It is also worth using thoughtful, clever maneuvers and tactics on the battlefield. The skills of the heroes under our command can help us in achieving victory. Same goes for the appropriate manipulation of the kingdom's politics, allowing us to gather powerful and loyal standard-bearers around us.
We can play Game of Thrones: War of Westeros alone, as part of a story campaign, or in multiplayer mode over the Internet, cooperating or competing with other players.
