Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is a very unusual racing game that combines virtual competition and elements with a real toy that we ride around our home using the Nintendo Switch console. The game was developed and released by the Japanese company Nintendo, which is also responsible for all other game in the Mario Kart series.
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is a very unusual racing game. The competition is not only taking place in the virtual world. The player uses his Nintendo Switch console to control a small toy car, which he can use to drive along his own route (during the game, the track is seen from a third person perspective, thanks to a camera on the vehicle) in his own home or another place.
The game puts virtual elements that are only visible on the console screen, such as backgrounds (e.g. jungle or snowy peaks), but also the amplifiers and obstacles affecting the game. The toy we control reacts to these things properly. This makes the game more exciting and deeper, reminiscent of what we know from the regular instalments of this cycle.
In Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit we can play alone or with others. In multiplayer mode, we can be accompanied by up to three other people (each of them must have their own controlled car, which is included in the game set).
Graphic design of Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit uses augmented reality technology ( Altered Reality). On the console screen we see the place where we have prepared the racetrack - e.g. our room. Nintendo Switch applies virtual elements to this image, creating a coherent picture.

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is heavily dependent on the amount of free floor space you have available. If you have a large home, space to drive under the sofas, no extra rugs or thick carpets, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit will be an amazing experience to share with the children. If you live somewhere fairly cramped or have a lot of clutter that's going to get in the way, then you will find this very difficult to enjoy indeed. Great for the kids at Christmas, as long as you have the space.
