Game mode: single player
God Wars: The Complete Legend is an enhanced version of 2017’s game God Wars: Future Past. Both have been developed by Kadokawa Games, a Japanese company known for projects like Demon Gaze II and Natural Doctrine.
The game’s story is inspired by Japanese mythology and takes place in the world of Mizuho, a home to nations of Hyuga, Izumo, and Fuji. For many years, people have led calm and prosperous lives. But the development of industry and technology brought various problems and disasters, such as floods. Queen Tsukuyomi decides to fix the situation by sacrificing one of her daughters and imprisoning the second one, Kaguya, to offer her if needed. Thirteen years later, Kaguya manages to escape and starts a journey to discover the true motive behind her mother’s actions. God Wars: The Complete Legend adds another scenario named Labyrinth of Yomi, which explains some plotlines concerning Kaguya.
The title is a tactical RPG that focuses on turn-based fights. Player control a group of characters moving on small maps made of squares, with everything being shown through isometric perspective. We give commands to our fighters during battles, ordering them to attack, defend or heal themselves. The outcome depends on a few factors: characters’ stats, their equipment, skills and positioning on the map, as arenas are multileveled, allowing players to attack enemies below them.
Compared to God Wars: Future Past, God Wars: The Complete Legend, offers faster gameplay, more aids, higher experience cap, and new playable characters (Momotaro, Kiji, Saru etc.).
God Wars: The Complete Legend has been designed in typical Japanese style. Manga-like characters, fantasy setting, and colorful enemies are what should be expected from the game, all of which is complemented by an enhanced soundtrack.
