Hearthsone: The Witchwood is another expansion for Hearthstone, a free-to-play card game. It was developed by Blizzard Entertanment, the creators of the base game.
The plot of the expansion focuses on the Worgen kingdom of Gilneas. Due to the actions of Hagatha the orc shaman, the kingdom is threatened by cursed creatures from the eponymous Witchwood. To defeat this evil, it is necessary to journey into the heart of the cursed forest, where no one has come back form yet.
Like the previous expansions, The Witchwood adds 135 new cards. Many of them are inspired by the Worgen, the Warcraft version of werewolves. The heroes and supporting characters of that race can turn into beasts, which switches their health and attack statistics. Other novelties include cards with previously unavailable keywords, such as Rush (allows you to quickly attack the opponent's support) or Echo (can be played several times during one turn). Some cards, such as Genn Greymane and Baku the Moon Eater, give you additional bonuses if your deck consists mostly of cards with even or uneven cost.
The expansion adds another single player campaign: Monster Hunt. It's based on missions from Kobolds and Catacombs. You play as one of the four available heroes and fight in eight battles, the final one featuring a powerful boss. Victories earn you new cards, which allows you to successfully complete more challenges.
The Witchwood expansion does not change the visuals of the game in any way.
