Hearts of Iron

Hearts of Iron Anthology is (as the title suggests) a set of all titles in the series. The games here have, of course, been moved in an unchanged form, while adding all the patches that have been released in the meantime. The Hearts of Iron series was a direct development of a very similar Europe Universalis. So we are dealing with extremely complex strategies. The main difference concerns the presented subject matter. The Europa Universalis games usually focused on the events of the 1400-1800s. In the case of Hearts of Iron we are dealing with World War II and hypothetical conflicts that could have started at that time. Paradox Interactive studio is responsible for preparing this anthology, also known for such games as Diplomacy or Crusader Kings.

The first two parts of Hearts of Iron are the most attractive component of this program. The two programmes are very similar to each other, although in the second part a number of very important innovations have been introduced. The changes included both the user interface and, for example, diplomatic options, allowing for even more interaction with other countries. In addition, the number of manageable nations has been extended (to about 130 countries). The activities are carried out all over the globe. Players can choose between full-fledged campaigns as well as single scripts, often with fictitious backgrounds. Both games use a very classic, two-dimensional view of the map, reminiscent of the aforementioned Europa Universalis series.

The next title included in the described set is Hearts of Iron 2: Doomsday, which is a stand-alone addition to the second part of the series. One of the most important options included in Doomsday is to extend the time of the struggle. The game does not end around 1946. We can continue to do so until 1953. The enlargement also includes an alternative scenario for the end of World War II. Some improvements have also been made to the options related to the mechanics of the game. Among other things, the technological tree was extended.

The last product included in the anthology is the Doomsday booster pack, entitled Armageddon. Here we can choose between two fictional scenarios. This extension was previously distributed only in electronic form, subject, of course, to payment of an appropriate fee.
