Hearts of Iron IV: Götterdämmerung Description
Hearts of Iron IV: Gotterdammerung is the tenth major expansion for the grand strategy game released in 2016. The expansion was developed by the authors of the base version of the game, namely the Paradox Development Studio team. Its release was handled by Paradox Interactive, the company overseeing the brand.
Novelties in the DLC
Hearts of Iron IV: Gotterdammerung introduces alternative history content, allowing players to rewrite the history of Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Belgium. By developing industry, creating new technologies, as well as improving the army and conducting military operations, they can significantly influence the course of events.
This last one is possible thanks to the changes that the national goal trees of individual countries have undergone. Germany could become a monarchy, a democracy, or follow one of the militaristic fascist paths, Austria could pursue the path of liberation from its neighbor, Hungary could rebuild its former Austro-Hungarian power, and Belgium could resist the German invaders, if necessary establishing a government-in-exile in Africa.
In addition, the expansion brings new special projects developed in scientific institutions, including nuclear physics, rocket technology and advanced aircraft, tanks and artillery, as well as naval engineering and electronics. If we want to dominate other countries, we must attack (by conducting bombing raids or sending commandos or paratroopers) enemy targets of strategic importance, such as research facilities, industrial areas or ports.
Some minor amenities have also been implemented in the add-on. New buildings became visible on the map, artificial intelligence is better at planning attacks, the operation of nuclear weapons has been modified, and attention has also been paid to urban warfare.
Game modes
Like the base game, Hearts of Iron IV: Gotterdammerung can be played solo or in multiplayer mode (via the Internet or local area network).
Technical aspects
Hearts of Iron IV: Gotterdammerung is not a standalone expansion, so it requires the base game Hearts of Iron IV.
