Hoplite is a turn-based strategy game for mobile devices. The title was created by Doug Cowley working for Magma Fortress studio. This is the developer's first game that has gained wider publicity. The story told by the creator is not too captivating - the players take on the role of a Spartan, who sets out to the underworld to win the Golden Fleece.

Mechanics

Hoplite is based on relatively simple rules. The warrior's adventure is divided into a series of small, randomly generated levels, where you have to defeat opponents. The boards are divided into many small fields on which we move. By jumping one field, however, the opponents make a similar movement in the direction in which they are positioned. The key to success is to choose the tactics to kill all enemies before they defeat us. Fortunately, our characters have a few skills. Instead of making another move we can, e.g. throw a spear. However, this has a certain consequence - we are deprived of a weapon until we regain it. You can also stun enemies with a shield or push a bomb away with it. Besides all this, each level has a temple where we can regain lost health or get one of the power-ups.

On the one hand, the gameplay is characterized by simple rules, and on the other hand, it requires concentration, attention, planning of subsequent movements and strategic thinking.

Technical aspects

Hoplite is complemented by a simple, but atmospheric graphic design, the achievements system and rankings.
