Hydroneer

Hydroneer is a sandbox sim game in which the action is observed from a first-person perspective. This title - developed and published by independent studio Foulball Hangover - was awarded second place in the "Indie of the Year Award 2020" organized by Indie DB.

Game mechanics

Hydroneer is a sandbox game focusing on exploration and resource extraction. Each of the available areas has its own advantages and disadvantages, so the player must decide which of the areas is best suited to establish a new, unique base.

At the very beginning the hero can use the simplest tools, such as a shovel or a bucket. As the game progresses, however, he starts to improve his workplace, with time introducing special machines, useful both for digging and moving objects. By creating systems of pipes, the player has the ability to control the pressure of water, which powers these machines. The game also allows him to create elaborate underground structures, tunnel systems that facilitate access to metal deposits and precious stones. The collected resources can be used to create metal bars, weapons and jewelry. Various relics of the past are also hidden underground. Going down to the lower and lower levels the player has a chance to dig for rewards of considerable value.
