Factorio is an independent economic strategy in which we build a huge factory. The game was developed by two programmers from the Czech Republic working under the banner of Wube Software, who have always loved productions such as Transport Tycoon, Civilization or SimCity, which are the inspiration for their own game. The project was funded on Indiegogo in 2013, and shortly afterwards a playable alpha version went on sale. The full version of the game was not released until 2020.
Mechanics
Factorio is a strategy game in which we observe the action from top-down perspective. Our main task is to build a factory on a dangerous alien planet and manage the complex. We must take care of the resources necessary to construct new buildings, electricity, as well as take care of the optimisation of production sequences, e.g. by introducing new technologies found in research centres or constantly improving methods of delivering goods to the place of their processing. the air.
It's worth noting that our factory is, above all, transmission systems, ensuring efficient transport of materials, semi-finished products and finished products. We have at our disposal conveyor belts of various speeds, trains as well as robots floating in
In addition, we must also take care of the safety of factories, which are attacked by the inhabitants of the planet (unless we turn off the alien aggression in the options) - so we put up walls and defense towers; we can also harass the nests of hostile fauna ourselves. We have at our disposal handguns, from the pistol to the rocket launcher, tanks and also combat drones, which we can carry in our backpacks.
Factorio developers have prepared several difficulty levels. There is also a map editor and support for fan modifications.
Game modes
In Factorio we can play solo or in co-op. The core of the game is the single player mode (we have both the story campaign and the free mode available). The game also offers a cooperative multiplayer mode - we can play using the Internet or LAN (users can then share various tasks between themselves).
The basic objective in the game is to build a spaceport and launch a rocket into space, which will allow us to evacuate from the alien planet. In practice, however, for many players this is just the beginning of the fun, and the real goal is to create as perfect and large a factory as possible.
Technical aspects
Factorio was designed in a simple, two-dimensional graphical style, based on sprites popular in the 90s. As a result, the greyscale graphics is quite poor.
