The third installment of the musou-type slasher subseries, serving as spin-offs for The Legend of Zelda. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is a prequel to Tears of the Kingdom, allowing us to learn Hyrule's distant past. We participate in dynamic battles with dozens of enemies.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is the third installment of the musou-type slasher sub-series. They are all spin-offs of the highly popular The Legend of Zelda series. The game, set before the events from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, was developed by the Koei Tecmo-owned AAA Games Studio, in collaboration with Nintendo.
In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). The gameplay does not deviate too much from what the previous part of the series and other games of this type have accustomed us to. We mainly engage in dynamic battles with opponents, during which we face dozens of enemies at the same time. The locations we visit are also a home to powerful bosses that we have to face.
The game provides us with characters that vary in terms of fighting style, preferred weaponry, and combat skills. The characters from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom appear in the game, led by Princess Zelda and King Rauru.
The graphics of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment were created using cel-shading technique and maintained in the style known from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Analog Stick Gaming: 9 / 10 by Jeff M Young
Age of Imprisonment is a vastly enjoyable Zelda adventure that, like Age of Calamity before it, gave me a better story than Link’s last two outings. The world of The Legend of Zelda is massive, across numerous timelines and games. While the gameplay is certainly a different taste than the main series games, I simply find these to offer more of what I want; great combat, fun characters, and compelling story. Age of Imprisonment has new stewards in AAA Game Studio, and so far, they've succeeded in providing a wildly addictive game with only a few blemishes across the whole package.
Thumbsticks: 4 / 5 by Daniel New
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is a surprisingly rich companion to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, pairing sharp, satisfying Musou combat with a story that actually feels essential.
VGC: 4 / 5
Age of Imprisonment may be the most serious of the Hyrule Warriors games to date, but it's also the one with the most engaging and rewarding combat. Fans of Tears of the Kingdom may be annoyed to see an essential retelling of part of its story, but the side-plots add more depth to make up for this to some extent. Fans of the Warriors gameplay style will be absolutely catered for here.
