Samurai Warriors 5 is the fifth installment of the slasher series started in 2004, enriched with tactical elements. The game was developed by Omega Force, the studio taking care of the series, and Koei Tecmo is the publisher.
Samurai Warriors 5 is set in Japan during the Sengoku period, right after the end of the Onin War, which began in 1467 and lasted until 1477. The story is told from the perspective of two great commanders of the era, Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akechi.
Before we start playing in Samurai Warriors 5 we choose one of the heroes. In addition to the two aforementioned characters, a number of other heroes known from previous parts of the series, as well as newcomers, are at our disposal. Each of the warriors has unique abilities, which if skillfully used in battle will give us an advantage over our opponent's forces. Then there is nothing left for us but to make a few strategic decisions and enter a vortex of action.
The core of the gameplay in Samurai Warriors 5 are dynamic battles involving hundreds of units, in which we take part directly, observing the protagonist from behind his back (TPP). Enemies are eliminated by using cold weapons and character's skills. As we progress, we develop the hero, increasing his combat potential. However, to make sure we don't feel too confident on the battlefield, enemies also evolve with time, which forces us to frequently change tactics.
In Samurai Warriors 5 we can play alone or with another player in multiplayer mode.
In comparison with the previous parts of the series, Samurai Warriors 5 stands out due to the cartoon graphics made in the cel-shading technique.
