Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 for PC, PS2 and etc. is a continuation of the warmly-received platformer/arcade game known as Kao the Kangaroo. The game was developed by Tate Multimedia, a new incarnation of the X-Ray Interactive which was responsible for the first installment which has been warmly received on European markets. Interestingly enough, the second installment has been released on all major sixth generation consoles, including PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Nintendo GameCube.
The story sees us assume control of Kao, the kangaroo who has been abducted by Barnaba, an evil poacher supported by a group of pirates. The villain has begun to capture animals all over the world, including many of Kao’s friends. Left with no other choice, the hero escapes captivity and embarks on a quest to free the animals, supported by a friendly pelican and a loyal whale.
Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 is a three-dimensional platformer/action adventure game. Our journey takes us through five different worlds, including a polar region, tropical islands, depths of the ocean, or pirate hideouts. In all, we are left with 20 different levels filled with bloodthirsty opponents and difficult terrain obstacles. Our hero can utilize a number of useful items and abilities, including a tail slash or a boomerang. Sometimes, the journey requires us to employ different objects, such as catapults, floating barrels, or even a snowboard. The players are encouraged to gather coins and other valuables that can be used to unlock bonus levels.
Round 2 is characteristic for its colorful, polished graphics, as well as eye-catching special effects. When it comes to the soundtrack, each area is received a fitting track. The game is mainly dedicated to younger players, but everyone should be able to find a decent platforming experience.
