A combination of an RPG, a card game and a roguelike production. Knock on the Coffin Lid allows us to embody a character who wakes up inside a coffin without any memories. Knock on the Coffin Lid is a mix of an RPG and a card game, enriched with elements borrowed from the roguelike genre. The game was developed by the independent studio RedBoon.

Gameplay

The gameplay in Knock on the Coffin Lid begins with the character selection, whom we meet when they are lying in the titular coffin. After a peculiar return to the world of the living, we begin an adventure leading through a world map crisscrossed with paths, on which numerous destinations have been arranged.

Following our own path

Which path we choose depends on us. We can try to take the path of least resistance or try to face bigger challenges (risking death and the need to start a fresh playthrough), tempted by the promise of gaining more valuable rewards. Given that the arrangement of these paths changes from game to game, each playthrough looks slightly different from the previous one.

NoobFeed: 78 / 100 by Ahnaf Tajwar

If you're a fan of roguelike deckbuilding games and enjoy a challenge, Knock on the Coffin Lid offers plenty of depth and replayability. Just be prepared for some rough edges. You might want to temper your expectations if you value narrative depth as much as gameplay. The game shines brightest when you're fully engaged in its strategic combat and experimentation, but it's not without its frustrations. Ultimately, it's a game worth playing if you're willing to push through the challenges and have a bit of patience.
