Kyora is a sandbox adventure game with full terrain deformation and crafting mechanics. We find ourselves in a world divided by ancient beings called Heralds. Step by step, we explore, fight, and rebuild what was destroyed, revealing the secrets of a fallen civilization.
Kyora was created by the Swedish studio Pugstorm, known for Core Keeper, and published by Chucklefish. The game takes us to a procedurally generated world that can be freely modified, explored, and defended against powerful Heralds. The developers focus on deep crafting, fluid combat systems, and pixel art graphics.
Kyora offers a hybrid of exploration, combat, and building, where every element of the world can be physically modified. We can freely dig through the game world, create structures, and manipulate the environment using a wide range of tools. Procedurally generated maps provide diverse biomes - from lush forests to arid wastelands - with unique resources, materials, and threats.
Combat is based on fast-paced skirmishes and the use of equipment that can be continuously upgraded. Collected resources allow for the crafting of new weapons, gear, and tools, with crafting playing a key role in both combat and exploration.
Kyora is designed as a game that can be played both solo and in cooperation with up to eight people. It does not offer PvP competition - the entire gameplay structure is based on cooperation, joint exploration of procedural biomes, and building and developing a base.
The multiplayer mode allows players to share responsibilities, gather resources more quickly, fight Heralds together, and create larger and more complex structures. The game remains fully playable in singleplayer mode as well, where the pace of exploration and progress is adjusted for solo gameplay.
In Kyora, we find ourselves in a mysterious land full of ruins, ancient technologies, and wild nature. Each biome is controlled by powerful beings known as Heralds, which present key narrative and battle challenges.
As we discover new regions, we learn the history of this world's downfall and the nature of the energy driving its rebirth. The narrative gradually unfolds through exploration, combat, and the discovery of new structures and materials, creating a story of survival, rebuilding, and confronting the forces that have shaped the fate of Kyora.
