The main pros of the game

  • Creative Vehicle Building: The game allows players to build their own vehicles using LEGO bricks, offering a fun and customizable experience that resonates with the LEGO brand.
  • Engaging Gameplay: Many users appreciate the arcade-style racing mechanics, including drifting and power-ups, making races exciting and dynamic.
  • Colorful Open World: The vibrant and detailed environments across different biomes enhance the overall experience, creating a visually appealing game.
  • Nostalgic Appeal: For players familiar with previous LEGO racing games, the charm and humor reminiscent of classic LEGO titles are a significant draw.
  • Multiplayer Options: Local split-screen and online multiplayer modes provide additional fun, especially when playing with friends or family.

The main cons of the game

  • Aggressive Monetization: Users frequently criticize the heavy reliance on microtransactions and battle passes, which many feel detracts from the overall enjoyment of a full-priced title.
  • Technical Issues: Reports of poor optimization, including performance issues and crashes, significantly affect the gameplay experience for many players.
  • Repetitive Gameplay: Some players find the missions and side activities become monotonous over time, lacking variety and depth.
  • AI Rubberbanding: The AI can feel overly competitive due to rubberbanding mechanics, which can frustrate players seeking a more authentic racing challenge.
  • Limited Customization: While vehicle building is a highlight, the lack of character customization options and the need for a 2K account to access certain features are points of contention.

The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users

  • Track Builder: Many players expressed disappointment over the absence of a track-building feature, which could have added significant replayability and creativity to the game.
  • Improved Customization Options: Users wanted more freedom in customizing characters and vehicles beyond the pre-made options and locked content.
  • Less Reliance on Microtransactions: There is a strong desire for a more balanced approach to in-game purchases, with many players feeling that the game should allow access to more content through regular gameplay rather than purchases.
  • Enhanced Story Mode: Several reviews noted that the story mode lacks depth and could benefit from more engaging narratives or challenges.
  • Better Performance and Optimization: Users called for improvements in game performance, including frame rates and stability, especially on various hardware setups.

Summary

  • Overall, while LEGO® 2K Drive has many enjoyable elements, particularly for younger audiences and LEGO fans, it faces significant criticism regarding its monetization practices and technical performance.
