Magicka is a conventional hack ‘n’ slash based on Nordic mythology. It was developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and is distributed via digital distribution channels (Steam, Xbox Live). We assume the role of a young mage and take part in a crusade against an evil warlock who tries to conquer the peaceful universe of Magicka with the monster horde he summoned. The main storyline is divided into 11 extensive missions.
One of the most important aspects of Magicka is combat. Since we play as a mage, we fight mostly using magic spells and enchantments. We gain access to new ones not only by learning, but also thanks to various items found while exploring the world. The whole is complemented by a pinch of really good humor.
Magicka also comes with a cooperation mode for up to four players. Competing as a part of a team is much more interesting due to the need of applying an effective tactic. An example: one party member casts a protection spell that creates a protective circle of stone, while the others are blasting the incoming enemies with their magic.
The game offers other modes, as well. These include the Challenge mode, where we complete various challenges either alone or with a helping hand from our friends.
