Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is an original racing game using augmented reality technology, in which we drive a real toy car. The game was developed by Nintendo.
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is a very unusual racing game that combines virtual competition and elements with a real toy that we ride around our home using the Nintendo Switch console. The game was developed and released by the Japanese company Nintendo, which is also responsible for all other game in the Mario Kart series.
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is a very unusual racing game. The competition is not only taking place in the virtual world. The player uses his Nintendo Switch console to control a small toy car, which he can use to drive along his own route (during the game, the track is seen from a third person perspective, thanks to a camera on the vehicle) in his own home or another place.
The game puts virtual elements that are only visible on the console screen, such as backgrounds (e.g. jungle or snowy peaks), but also the amplifiers and obstacles affecting the game. The toy we control reacts to these things properly. This makes the game more exciting and deeper, reminiscent of what we know from the regular instalments of this cycle.
In Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit we can play alone or with others. In multiplayer mode, we can be accompanied by up to three other people (each of them must have their own controlled car, which is included in the game set).
Graphic design of Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit uses augmented reality technology ( Altered Reality). On the console screen we see the place where we have prepared the racetrack - e.g. our room. Nintendo Switch applies virtual elements to this image, creating a coherent picture.

Highly popular series of arcade racers with characters from the universe Mario Bros. The series was created by the Nintendo corporation as a spin-off of the brand Super Mario Bros.
Mario Kart Live Review - An Expensive Gimmick
Mario Kart Live sounds like a revolution on paper: unfortunately, this revolution ends after two hours, slaughtered by boredom, repetition and technical challenges.
We know the latest sales figures for Nintendo Switch and software dedicated to this platform. Customers around the world have already purchased nearly 80 million units of the console. Games for this device are also very popular.

The launch of Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit has translated into a flood of materials from the game. Most of them include the reactions of cats and dogs, which are unlikely to like Nintendo's new idea.

COGconnected: 70 / 100 by Alex Everatt
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is a unique experience that is really impressive at first glance. I enjoyed putting the courses together and exploring the variety of Grand Prix’s, but after a while, the experience does lose its charm much faster than normal Mario Kart experiences. I think this is in part due to the fact that there really is only so many ways I can set up four gates in my living room, the game gets stale because my ideas get stale. Some of the in-game obstacles that impact your RC cars steering, like the Chain-Chomp power-up and the high winds, often caused me to crash into living room objects or knock the gates out of place. This was incredibly annoying and really ruins the experience more than a badly timed Blue Shell. Moreover, the cost to play multiplayer is way too steep, keeping this ultimately a single-player experience for most families. While there is a nice amount of variety in courses, there really isn’t much to do after you master the 200cc difficulty – assuming you haven’t lost interest long before then.

Mario Kart Live is a wondrous and magical toy that combines real world and digital play in an incredible way. It's a shame though that not everyone will have the space, or the money, to experience it.

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit feels like magic. It's expensive to play multiplayer, but if your imagination (and house) is big enough, there's plenty of fun on offer.
