Misery is an action game with survival elements, set in Russia, in an area devastated by a nuclear disaster. The game was developed by the independent studio Platypus Entertainment.

Gameplay

In Misery we watch the events from a first-person perspective (FPP).

To make it before the explosion

The gameplay begins with a countdown to a nuclear explosion. The game gives us 60 seconds, during which we have to collect everything we deem necessary, and then head to the bunker, which from that point on will be our only shelter. Our primary goal becomes survival and gathering all parts of the antenna, which will allow us to send a request for evacuation.

Exploration of radioactive wasteland

The gameplay is based on expeditions to the radioactive wasteland. The locations we visit are procedurally generated, which makes each session look slightly different from the previous ones. We explore ruined apartment buildings, sunken settlements in the marshes, nuclear shelters, or graveyards of vehicles and machines. We must keep our eyes peeled so as not to miss any useful items or resources, such as food, water, medicine, or weapons.
