Monster Hunter: Rise Expansion Pack
MH Rise: Sunbreak
Release Date: June 30, 2022
Sunbreak is a powerful expansion pack to the action RPG Monster Hunter Rise. The DLC expands the production with a new campaign and locations, previously unknown monsters and items, as well as introduces fresh game mechanics.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is the first expansion pack for the action RPG Monster Hunter: Rise. Both the main game and the expansion were developed by Capcom.
This is a classic add-on that doesn't make any revolutionary changes, instead focusing on expanding the content and gameplay mechanics. Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak introduces a new story campaign set on Elgado, locations and gameplay mechanics, including an additional rank for adventures, called Master Rank, featuring an even higher difficulty level. Of course, we will also hunt for new monsters such as Malzeno, Lunagaron or Shogun Ceanataur.
Just like the basic version of the game, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak offers both single player and cooperative multiplayer modes, where up to four people can test themselves against monsters together.
Sunbreak is not a standalone add-on, which means that the base version of Monster Hunter Rise is required to play.

After spending over 60 hours with the new expansion, I can say that it’s one of my favorite game expansions in recent history. If you are a fan of Monster Hunter Rise, then you should consider playing the new content. I have enjoyed my time with Sunbreak and can’t wait to continue my adventures with my friends, taking on new challenges, and reaping the rewards. All right, hunters; we’ll see you in the field.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is a nigh on perfect expansion, bringing meaningful gameplay change, charming new cast members, and most importantly, more monsters to hunt. It is, for those in the know, absolutely unmissable.

With so many good brawls in Sunbreak, it’s frustrating that it falls victim to one of the biggest villains in AAA video games: bloat. I’d much rather see Sunbreak offer a shorter campaign with more of a focus on new monsters, and give me the option to fight Master Rank versions of the original roster at my leisure. But instead, I spent the opening hours of the expansion bashing familiar foes, just so I could get to the good stuff. As such, playing Sunbreak feels a bit like unwrapping an exciting present covered in too much tape.
