NBA 2K17 for PC, PS4 and etc. is a next installment of a popular sports game series NBA 2K. Similarly to previous titles, this one was also created by a noteworthy developer, Visual Concepts, while 2K Games took up the duties of the distributor, with series such as Borderlands, Sid Meier’s Civilization, or BioShock in their back catalogue. The game was released in two versions – normal and Legend Edition, promoted by Kobe Bryant, released only for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.
Mechanics of the gameplay in NBA 2K17 have not undergone any major changes from the previous installment. It’s still a basketball simulator, trying to reproduce the NBA matches as accurately as possible. This time, we aren’t limited only to the association, as the game includes some national teams: Dream Team – the US team from 1992, the national team from 2016, and Australian Boomers, i.e. the team representing Australia. The game offers standard modes, including a quick match or online meetings, at the same time introducing MyGM and MyLeague modes, allowing us not only to take part in subsequent sport events, but also in various activities which involve managing the team, for example a draft. Additionally, the players can modify a number of the team’s visual aspects, for example, changing the logo or outfits.
Among other elements, the system of face recognition is back, which appeared in the series for the first time in NBA 2K15. Sadly, both the debut version, and the one available in the next installment weren’t free of bugs, causing the game to create strange creatures instead of virtual counterparts. However, the system has been improved, and the game-breaking bugs happen less often.
When it comes to technical aspects, NBA 2K17 for PC, PS4 and etc. had not undergone major changes. Of course, the developers implemented certain improvements to the engine, but we are not going to witness a graphical revolution. Still, the game looks quite good, and sometimes resembles TV broadcasts.
