New World

Unlike the first version of the game, New World: Aeternum was released not only on personal computers, but also on consoles. This resulted in the implementation of mechanics such as target acquisition and aiming assist, a virtual cursor and additional accessibility features. In addition, the creators have added a cross-play function, so that players from all platforms can play together.

Plot

In New World we enter a world inspired by the aesthetics and atmosphere of 17th-century American colonies. The game takes place on the fictional island of Aeternum. The mysterious substance Azoth found there is both a source of enormous power and the cause of all misfortunes and plagues. The secrets of the island are also guarded by the magical forces of nature and its ancient inhabitants. We play the role of a survivor who must cope in this dangerous world.

Gameplay

New World is an MMORPG with an open, sandbox world, largely shaped by the players. We can obtain materials from animals and plants, produce tools and weapons, and even take control of settlements. Each territory can be managed both visually and financially, e.g. by imposing our own taxes. The land is subject to constant transformations and there's also a complete day & night cycle.

Factions

Players can follow any path they choose, cooperating with others or choosing the path of loners, but it is worth noting that the greatest profits will be gained by cooperating with others during the most dangerous quests. The land is full of supernatural beings and wild animals, and optionally we can also fight with other players. Who we can challenge depends on the faction we choose: we have the force-based Marauders, the cunning Syndicate or the noble and law-abiding Alliance. Belonging to a faction also allows us to profit from the territories it controls.

Combat and death

Actions such as attacks, dodges and running endurance, which is quickly depleted, but also regenerates as long as we find a moment to rest. We also have firearms at our disposal.Death during the game is not punished severely - it reduces the durability of worn items. The combat system is arcade-like and may be associated with the Dark Souls series.

The heart of the game are huge battles fought during fortress sieges. They are played both in PvP mode, when a hundred players face each other, and in PvE mode - when fifty players fight against three times larger forces controlled by artificial intelligence. There are siege machines, traps mounted on walls and a system of battle points allowing us to purchase various temporary boosters.

Technology

New World is characterized by high-quality three-dimensional graphics. The game is based on proprietary technology - the creators managed to include an environment rich in detail, as well as refined character models and complex particle effects. This is accompanied by atmospheric music. Amazon's game also emphasizes social aspects, the best example of which is integration with Twitch.
