Oblivion Override takes us on a journey to a world where there is no longer a trace of humanity, and its place has been taken by robots created by it. Although the machines reign indivisibly here, the code developed by their creators - the title Oblivion - still imposes various restrictions on them. The main hero of the game is a combat robot named Crimson, who sets out on a journey through the deserted Dulce base. The protagonist not only faces numerous dangers, but also learns more and more about the history of robots and humanity, and gradually comes closer to solving the mystery of the Oblivion code.
Oblivion Override is a side-scroller. Moving through futuristic interiors and undergrounds bathed in darkness, we jump on platforms and avoid numerous traps, as well as measure ourselves against hoards of enemies. During dynamic skirmishes we have to be in constant motion, which makes Crimson's mobility possible (and attractive). The robot can cover considerable distances in the air, run along walls or perform lightning-fast dodges. Enemies, on the other hand, he eliminates, making use primarily of cold weapons, such as battle axes, powerful swords or laser katanas.
As we progress, we acquire better equipment and a variety of skills, thus gradually increasing our combat potential. Interestingly, the game allows us to freely unlock and upgrade Crimson's abilities at any time (provided we have the necessary number of nanites to do so). Nothing prevents us from modifying their list if necessary, getting rid of unwanted items from it in favor of more useful ones.
It is worth remembering at the same time that death is permanent here, so if we die, we have to start the whole crossing over again. Between journeys through Dulce it is worth spending some time chatting with the protagonist's allies; for the eccentric doctor, mechanic or cowboy often have something interesting to say.
Oblivion Override features colorful, two-dimensional graphics made in a cartoonish style. We can also listen to a dubstep soundtrack.
