The fifth part of the slasher series from Capcom. In Onimusha: Way of the Sword we play as one of the titular warriors, exploring a fantasy version of Kyoto from the Edo period. Our main job is eliminating hordes of monsters, using a katana or a unique Oni Gauntlet.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the fifth main installment of the long-running slasher series, which dates back to 2001. The game was developed and published by Capcom, the company overseeing the brand.
In Onimusha: Way of the Sword the action is viewed from a third-person perspective (TPP). While exploring Kyoto, we mainly engage in battles with opponents. On the battlefield, we mainly use the katana and the Oni Gauntlet - an artifact that allows us to kill enemies not from our world, and then absorb their souls.
The combat system prioritizes tactics over dynamics and spectacular actions, rewarding parrying and dodging attacks at the last moment. In this way, we knock demonic opponents off balance and expose them to special, powerful blows. The interactive environment plays an important role during combat. For example, we can grab an enemy and push him into the flames or grab the shaft of a cart to ram a group of enemies.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword transports us to an alternative, fantasy version of Kyoto from the Edo period. The city is overrun by sinister forces and monsters from the underworld called the Genma. During the game, we take on the role of Miyamoto Musashi, who decides to confront them.
