A turn-based strategy game developed by independent studio Clarus Victoria. The title takes place in the ancient Egypt. The player controls one of the tribes that live there and is tasked with securing its growth. The general goal is to transform the tribe into the ancient empire known from the history books. Predynastic Egypt is a turn-based game, in which the action takes place on a two-dimensional map.
Predynastic Egypt is a turn-based strategy game developed by the independent studio Clarus Victoria - authors of the acclaimed Marble Age, maintained in a similar tone.
Predynastic Egypt takes place between 5000 and 3000 BC. The player takes control of one of the Egyptian tribes, and their task is to take care of its development, which will ultimately lead to the creation of an ancient superpower known from the pages of history.
The action in Predynastic Egypt is observed in isometric view. The game takes place in turns on a two-dimensional map, the centre of which is the city of Heriankopolis. The reconstruction of the city is based on archaeological discoveries and historical records, but also taking into account the climate changes that have occurred over the course of two thousand years (including the transformation of the Sahara from savannah to desert).
The main element of the game is the expansion into new territories, which we lead by conquering areas inhabited by other peoples and by erecting production and utility buildings. An important role is also played by acquisition of resources and food production, taking care of the development of civilization (new technologies are developed on an extensive tech tree consisting of 48 items) and fielding of the largest and most advanced army possible. The battles take place in real time, observing a graph showing the losses and percentage chance of victory.
Our subjects have to deal with the consequences of natural disasters and epidemics. It is also worth remembering one more thing to influence the life of nomads is religion - the primitive cult of spirits is replaced over time by faith in deities and ceremonies characteristic for ancient peoples of the Nile Valley.
Simple two-dimensional visuals of Predynastic Egypt can be liked for their clear design - the same applies to the catchy soundtrack. A separate mention should be made of the fact that the interface and controls are adapted to the specificity of individual platforms - we play with the mouse on PC, while mobile devices makes use of touchscreens.
