In 2016, a small studio called Massive Damage released Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander on PC and mobile devices. The production was positively received, so the developers, encouraged by the success of the project, prepared a second project for PC, entitled Star Renegades.
This production is a tactical RPG roguelike game in which we command members of a rebellion fighting an evil empire. The game focuses on missions, which usually consist of battles with intelligent and constantly evolving opponents. Tasks are randomly generated, which, in combination with the constantly evolving enemies, makes the game a little different each time, gets more challenging, and death is something inevitable. However, it is worth keeping your subordinates alive for as long as possible. The members of our team form friendships and even deeper relations which can result in a child - he or she will join our ranks as another unique character.
The combat system uses turns. The developers have developed the Reactive Time Battle system, rewarding flexibility and adapting tactics to changing situations. During the fights, we try to interfere with enemies' plans in various ways by, e.g. performing combos, counterattacking or interrupting their turn.
Like Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander, Massive Damage's previous production, Star Renegades was created in pixel-art technique, imitating old titles from the times of 8- and 16-bit machines.
