Still Wakes the Deep Expansion Pack
Release Date: June 18, 2025
A story expansion for the first-person horror adventure game from The Chinese Room studio. The story of Still Wakes the Deep: Siren's Rest takes us to a sunken wreck of the Beira D platform. We play as a female protagonist Mahiri, trying to solve the mystery of the events that happened on the platform.
Still Wakes the Deep: Siren's Rest is the first story expansion to the first-person action-adventure horror titled Still Wakes the Deep, released in 2024. The add-on was developed by the creators of the base version, namely the British studio The Chinese Room. They are also known for Dear Esther and Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, representing similar genres.
Still Wakes the Deep: Siren's Rest introduces a new storyline, set in 1986. This is 11 years after the events depicted in the original. During the game, we take on the role of Mhairi and venture into the depths of the North Sea, where the wreck of the Beira D drilling platform rests at the bottom.
The protagonist investigates the remains of this object, photographs the bodies of the victims and collects mementos of them, as well as gathers valuable clues that allow her to unravel the mystery leading to the sinking of the platform. The protagonist has useful items and tools on her forearm, such as underwater flares illuminating the darkness, a crowbar enabling the forcing of closed passages, and an underwater arc burner allowing to cut through metal obstacles.
We can also encounter the nightmare that the crew of Beira D had to face eleven years ago, which turns Mhairi's stay in this place into a real struggle for survival.
Still Wakes the Deep: Siren’s Rest is a non-standalone expansion, therefore it requires the base version of Still Wakes the Deep.

Game Ratings for Still Wakes the Deep: Siren's Rest Video Game.
GamingBolt: 5 / 10 by Ravi Sinha
Still Wakes the Deep presented an intriguing tale to build off of, but Siren's Rest isn't it, wasting its lead's impressive performance and failing to provide any real - or interesting - answers.
Xbox Tavern: 7.5 / 10 by Jamie Collyer
A too short affair with a real threat at the conclusion of Siren’s Rest means a lot of the game is spent swimming and gathering narrative exposition rather than fighting for survival as in Still Wakes the Deep. Luckily, the story told is engaging enough to pull us through the few hours it takes, and the sense of being at the bottom of the North Sea is convincing enough to be its own threat for those of us who aren’t super keen on the water as it is. I’m not sure if it helped or hindered my preparation for real life though…
PCGamesN: 5 / 10 by Nat Smith
The premise of Siren's Rest is strong enough to plumb the depths of Still Wakes the Deep's enduring mysteries, but as a compact story DLC, it's just too shallow. The principal goal of tracking down collectibles siphons the tension from its claustrophobic environments, and The Chinese Room's overreliance on scripted sequences creates missed opportunities for emergent horror.
