The game was developed by Next Games, a Helsinki-based studio, known for its mobile games based on The Walking Dead franchise. It is worth noting that the title is not the first adaptation of the Netflix hit, as the players also received games such as Stranger Things: The Game and Stranger Things: The Game 3.
Stranger Things adapts a story from every season of the series and features all the characters known from the small screen in it. The game uses GPS technology and is integrated with Google Maps. This allows users to explore another dimension of the so-called Upside Down in the real world. Stranger Things' audio-visual layer brings to mind the classic American cartoons.
