Strategos is a real-time strategy game (RTS) in which we command ancient armies. It was developed by the independent Polish studio Strategos Games, in whose portfolio we can find the board game Glory: A Game of Knights.

Gameplay

In Strategos we lead an army and participate in battles involving thousands of units. The game allows us to lead into battle armies representing various factions that shook Europe in ancient times. Apart from Rome and Carthage from various epochs, Persia, Greek city-states, Thrace, or Germanic, Gallic, and Iberian tribes are also present. On the battlefield, they are represented by over 200 types of units - from infantry to cavalry.

The key to success is not always the number of our troops. The game allows us to freely distribute individual units and generals, as well as allows for the use of various tactics. These latter include using the terrain to our advantage, flanking and chasing fleeing enemies, or choosing the right moment to send specific units or commanders into battle. Besides, when leading an army, we must pay attention to its morale. Couriers, on the other hand, ensure communication on the battlefield.
