Table Of Tales: The Crooked Crown is a combination of a card game with RPG elements, which requires players to use virtual reality headgear on Playstation 4. Moving a board game into the digital world is not a new thing for Tin Man Games, as they have already worked on The Warlock Of Firetop Mountain and The Forest of Doom.
Plot
The titular Table of Tales is a magical artifact that gives the opportunity to experience countless adventures in different worlds to anyone who decides to sit at it. When players decide to do so, the table comes to life and a board of a world full of magic and pirates opens up for them. Players get the opportunity to lead a four-person rogue team comprising Nuna, The Hammer, Thomas, and Horatio. One's task is to experience many adventures, get to know the world surrounding The Crown archipelago, make the best decisions, and fight. All this in order to end up with as many treasures as possible.
Mechanics
In Table of Tales: The Crooked Crown, players get to follow the story influenced by the decisions they make. These decisions can often lead players to battles against various opponents.
During the game, players manage figures representing members of their team, which, like in a board game, move along a grid composed of squares. Each of the heroes features different skills and has his own range of special abilities, which, when used wisely, become the key to winning battles. It is also connected with playing the appropriate skill cards and on a lucky dice roll.
Technical aspects
Table Of Tales: The Crooked Crown is designed for playing with the utilization of Playstation VR headgear.
