In 2023, the independent studio Alawar delivered the game Wall World, which combined elements of action roguelites and tower defense titles. More than two years later, the same team prepared a sequel to their creation in the form of Wall World 2. The second game draws heavily from the original, but also introduces a number of new elements.

Gameplay

In Wall World 2 the action is viewed from the side.

Proven gameplay formula

The gameplay once again involves going through procedurally generated dungeons (which we access through holes in the titular Wall) and defending the entrances to the tunnels (which we do by piloting a powerful robospider). As we progress, we gather resources, technologies, and artifacts that increase our combat potential and provide access to additional areas of the titular Wall World.

New elements

That's not all, as in Wall World 2 battles with monsters take place both on the surface of the Wall and beneath it. Although in many mines we are deprived of our combat vehicle and its deadly arsenal, we can rely on our exosuit and hand weapons. Like the robospider, these can also be upgraded as we progress. Additionally, anomalies await us in the tunnels, which can either facilitate or hinder our progress.

Sphere city

Between subsequent escapades, we find ourselves in the sphere city. It serves as a hub where we can prepare for further adventures by getting to know the residents of this metropolis, customizing character equipment, and modifying the robospider. The game primarily allows us to swap out the limbs of the spider (including for tracks), which affects its maneuverability and speed.
