Wintermoor Tactics Club is a tactical RPG, developed by independent EVC studio and released by Versus Evil. The developers' ambition was to create a game that was complex enough to encourage the veterans of the genre to check it out, and at the same time transparent enough to make it fun for people who hadn't previously dealt with positions of this kind.
The action of Wintermoor Tactics Club game takes place in the eighties of XX century. The main heroine of the game is Alicia, who is studying at the Wintermoor Academy. As a member of Wintermoor Tactics Club, the heroine and her friends play a triumphant RPG called Curses & Catacombs. One day the academy declares a great snowball war, which is supposed to find the best association of its kind. The case seems suspicious, so in between battles, our student is conducting a kind of investigation to uncover the secrets of the academy. At the same time, the girl makes new friends, helping students to solve their problems and discover themselves.
In Wintermoor Tactics Club the action is shown in isometric view. While exploring the academy, we conduct conversations with students, among which we find members of other clubs (like Psychic Detectives or Young Monarchists) as well as people who are willing to join Alicia's team. There are seven people, each with its own unique abilities; however, to unlock them, we must help the person in question to solve his/her problem by creating a dedicated campaign for Curses & Catacombs.
We can use these skills during more than forty snowball battles, in the imagination of the participants taking the convention of tactical RPG battles. The battles take place in turn-based mode, on arenas covered by a grid of square fields. While the heroes present themselves as fearless heroes, their enemies (who are actually disciples) look like monsters or hostile people or other fantastic races.
Wintermoor Tactics Club has colourful graphics in a pleasant cartoon style.
