Wolfstride is an RPG adventure game from Brazilian studio Ota Imon. The player takes on the role of a former Yakuza (Japanese Mafia) member named Dominique Shade. The protagonist joins forces with a novice pilot and a elderly mechanic to win a tournament of mechs fights (giant, human-like robots).

Plot

Wolfstride takes us into a future in which the world we know is only a memory. Mankind has gathered around the last few cities, one of them being Rain City, where watching mechs fights is a popular pastime. We play the role of a former Yakuza member, Dominique Shade, who together with his comrades decides to win the Ultimate Mech Tournament, a tournament of giant humanoid combat robots.

Mechanics

The gameplay in Wolfstride is divided into 2 phases - the fight and preparations for it. The main task of a player is to win a mech tournament, but in order to prepare for it, we have to improve our vehicle and make sure it is in perfect condition.

The fight in the game is turn-based, and what we can do in a given turn depends on 3 factors. Movement points will allow us to outmanoeuvre our enemies, action points will be used to inflict blows, and our piloting skills will allow us to gain an advantage and dominate the battlefield.

But it's not the fight that makes you alive. Between the duels, there are elements of the management of the mech. Our vehicle must be fully operational and needs regular improvements if it is to have a chance in increasingly harder clashes. But for that, money will be needed.

The funds will be obtained by exploring the city and performing side tasks for the people we meet. However, before the inhabitants of the metropolis are ready to commission us, we must first get to know them better and make friends with them. And as for the tasks themselves, they're not the usual missions known from most other games, if you want money, you should be prepared for cat laundering for example.

Technical aspects

Playing with its artistic style brings to mind Japanese animations (anime). It is also worth noting that it is maintained in black and white colours.
