WWE 2K Battlegrounds

WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a side part of the WWE 2K sports series. The game is a more skillful version of typical games from the series, which resembles NBA Playgrounds, also created by Saber Interactive studio.

Mechanics

The basic rules of WWE 2K Battlegrounds do not differ from what we have been used to in the previous versions of the cycle. The gameplay focuses on wrestling duels in the ring using a rich repertoire of blows, throws and grips. However, the game follows the path set out by the NBA Playgrounds sub-series and abandon realism to an exaggerated, even cartoon-like game. Bloodthirsty alligators circulate around some arenas, and players perform magical attacks using fire and mysterious powers. The developers wanted to create a game satisfying for veterans, but also suitable for loose fights between people without experience with this type of games.

Technical aspects

Less serious approach to wrestling can also be seen in the visual setting. Although there is no shortage of real wrestlers like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the game uses a distinctly caricatured style, which can be associated with the animated TV series Celebrity Deathmatch. The duels are accompanied by spectacular visual effects, additionally emphasizing the exaggerated character of the game.
