This page of the guide for Ghostwire Tokyo tells you how to earn experience points (XP) in order to develop and advance your character.
Last update:
On this page of the Ghostwire Tokyo guide, you will find tips on how to collect XP - experience points that are needed to level up. We've listed a few different ways of gaining XP - through combat, completing quests, and absorbing spirits.
- Collecting spirits and taking them to safety
- Killing opponents (stealthily or in combat)
- Completing main and side missions
Collecting spirits and taking them to safety

The best method to collect XP is not very obvious. You have to absorb the spirits by using items called katashiro.
After finding ghosts, you can absorb them, but you must have at least one free katashiro. The game will always display information on how many spirits you have absorbed - it can be, for example, 100, 400 or even 600 spirits.

With absorbed ghosts, you must reach the phone booths and confirm that you want to send them to a safe place. The received XP is twice the number of ghosts sent back - in the example from our picture, we collected 5,937 spirits which gave us 11,874 experience points. Of course, you don't have to wait to gather a large group of ghosts - you can visit the booths more often.
Depending on how many ghosts you have returned at the moment, you can get closer to a new level, or you can level up immediately.
The entire process of "collecting" ghosts and sending them back is described in more detail on the Katashiro and absorbing spirits page.
Killing opponents (stealthily or in combat)

The most obvious way of obtaining XP is to kill enemies. Pay attention to two things:
- You get XP regardless of how you eliminated a Visitor. You don't have to fight them in direct combat - you can also sneak up and perform quick purge.
- The number of points received depends on the enemy type. The stronger and "more elite" a Visitor is, the more XP you can get. On average, you will get several dozen XP for a "regular" Visitor, several hundred points for an elite type and up to several thousand points for killing a boss.
Completing main and side missions

The last way is also quite obvious - you need to complete main and side quests. The only difference is in how you get XP - you can get it right away or collect a lot of spirits and go to the phone booth to "exchange" them for experience points.
You can read the information about the rewards from the descriptions of the quests so you can focus on those that will reward you with a lot of XP.
