AMD Announces Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X as well as B550 Chipset

AMD has officially announced two more Ryzen 3000 CPU and motherboards based on the new B550 chipset - the successor to the popular B450. Launch of the new hardware will take place soon - in May and June.

New Ryzens and motherboards for AMD processors.

IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. AMD has announced budget Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X CPUs - the new units will be launched on May 21;
  2. The company has also officially announced motherboards based on the B550 chipset - they will appear in stores on June 16.

AMD has officially announced (via Tom's Hardware) two new Zen 2-based processors - the Ryzen 3 3300X and Ryzen 3 3100, both of which have four cores each (but support SMT technology, i.e. support up to 8 threads at a time), as well as a 16 MB L3 cache. They differ in principle only in their clock frequency. Ryzen 3 3100 is valued at 99 dollars and operates at 3.8 / 3.9 GHz (Base / Boost mode), while Ryzen 3 3300X, which costs 21 dollars more , has the same basic clock, but offers much bigger boost (up to 4.3 GHz).

In the box with both processors we also find Wraith Stealth cooling. The CPUs will hit the market on May 21, this year - at an ideal moment to spoil Intel's humor, which is preparing to launch its Comet Lake chipsets (according to rumors, they will be officially released in a little over a week, on April 30).

Boards using the X570 chipset are not among the cheapest.

AMD also finally confirmed the existence and launch date of the expected motherboards based on the new B550 chipset - successor to the popular B450, offering support for the PCI-e 4.0 standard, which is to be a cheaper, mainstream alternative to quite expensive X570 chipsets. The devices will be launched on June 16 - we can expect models from the usual manufacturers such as ASRock, Asus and Gigabyte.

The announcement is unlikely to be a coincidence - the B550s will fit perfectly into the recently released budget Ryzens.
