How Many People Are Named After Leage of Legends Characters?

A name is one of the most important things we have in life, around which, one might say, we build our brand. Some people are proud of theirs, while others change it whenever they have the opportunity. Guess which group someone whose parents named him Blitzcrank might belong to.

The birth of a child is one of the most important, if not the most important, event in the lives of many. Parents have to make a lot of smaller or bigger decisions concerning the future and life of their offspring. One of such choices is the choice of a name. Now, we all know some names are more popular than others. But what if the parents' play video games and have a bolder sense of liberty in these terms?

'Dad, why is my sister's name Rose?'

'Because your mum loves roses, son.' This is a valid argument. It worked similarly in the case of Game of Thrones and the huge hype surrounding the name Daenerys. And some individuals out there have applied this to LoL. Gangplank could have won someone's promo to grandmaster, but naming your child that is a bit of an exaggeration, innit?

Reddit user aztechnically created a list using the website Forebears of the number of people who have names identical or extremely similar to those of heroes and heroines in League of Legends.

Of course, there are mostly those that occur "naturally" in the real world, such as Viktor, Violet, Diana, Camille, Annie and so on. There are somewhat fewer of those also sort of generic, but not as popular as, for example, Leona, Janna, Nilah, Shen, Gwen or Elise.

Of course, the icing on the cake are those individual cases where parents decided on Singed, Tryndamere, Smolder or Teemo.

...OK which redditor named their child Blitzcrank?

And who the hell names their child Misfortune?

I'll be right back, I'm changing my name to Mordekaiser.

Not all names could be transferred to the real world without changing them a bit, because no one decided on Vel'koz, but there's a surname Vel Kos, which is carried by several people in the world. Sometimes the result was based on changing one letter, as in the case of Tarica, where the author changed "C" to "Q", or Jhina, with removed "H."

You will also find the author's comment, where he "honorably" placed the number of people named after objects, side characters, or Baron Nashor.

Naming your child is a stressful, solemn, beautiful, and probably a bit scary moment. Some folks pick out a name for their kid even before they have one, while others spend months mulling it over. Of course, everyone will approach this differently, but it's probably best to stay grounded and not risk having to write "Blitzcrank" in the documents... On the other hand...
