Back 4 Blood Won't Divide the Fans; One DLC per Party is Enough

New information has been released about how DLCs will work in Back 4 Blood. The extra content will be available to the entire party if one of its members purchases it - and that's not all.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  • Turtle Rock Studios announced that DLCs for the upcoming Back 4 Blood will be available to the entire party in PvE mode if its leader purchases the additional content;
  • In PvP mode, we'll be able to get all the extra gameplay elements for free that would otherwise had to be paid for - and everyone in a match will have access to the same cards to level the playing field.

Turtle Rock Studios is putting the finishing touches on its new game, Back 4 Blood, which is set for release on October 12. It's another co-op shooter set in an apocalyptic world full of zombies, taking inspiration from the Left 4 Dead series. It is known that the game will receive PvE and PvP modes - in the latter one team takes on the role of survivors, while the other plays as zombies - but so far we had no information about whether the system will separate players who have DLCs from those who have not purchased them.

The day before yesterday Turtle Rock Studios published a post clarifying this issue: If a party's leader purchases the DLC and has access to its content in PvE mode, the other members will participate in the same campaign and use the same maps, etc. So a group of friends can buy one DLC and use it when the team leader does. This will make the gaming environment more inclusive as more people will participate in the game.

As for the PvP mode, the developers explained that every person who purchases Back 4 Blood will be able to get all the extra competitive items through gameplay not just in the store. There will be two options: spending money on new playable characters, or obtaining them during the progression in PvP mode. What's more, all participants in a match will have access to the same cards in order to level the playing field and emphasize the players' skills, not their wallets.
