Today, Larian Studios announced the release date for Patch 8, a huge patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 that will include twelve new subclasses and other great updates. This new patch has been in development for months, and some players have had the opportunity to test it out already, but it has not had a release date until today. We predicted that the patch was right around the corner back in March, and it turns out we were right. The major update is launching in just a few days.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s highly anticipated Patch 8 finally has a release date, and it’s soon

The 2023 Game of the Year winner, Baldur’s Gate 3, continues to make all the right steps with fans. Unfortunately, the studio has announced that they won’t be working on the next Baldur’s Gate game, but many fans are happy to stick with the studio no matter what game they work on next. The game has been out for nearly two years, not to mention several years in early access on Steam. So, while it was disappointing, not many people were surprised when Larian announced that this would be the last major update for Baldur’s Gate 3.

In a post on social media, Larian Studios shared plans for the release of the highly anticipated Patch 8. The release date is scheduled for April 15th, only a few days away. The studio is celebrating by hosting a livestream on Twitch with one of the developers who worked on the new subclasses. The stream will feature gameplay and discussion of the final patch. As a bonus, Larian also shared that Baldur’s Gate 3 is now 20% off on Steam in anticipation of Patch 8.

What can we expect from this new patch? It will finally introduce the long-awaited Photo Mode that will surely allow players to create all kinds of amazing images. Crossplay will also be introduced, allowing players to join in on friend’s games across platforms. But the big talk has always been about the twelve new subclasses, one for each of the game’s twelve major classes. Larian has shared details about these new subclasses, but only a handful of players have had the chance to try them out for themselves.

Of the new subclasses, I personally am curious to try out the Swarmkeeper Ranger, the Arcane Archer Fighter, the Circle of Stars Druid, and of course, the Drunken Master Monk. Baldur’s Gate 3 might be finally getting its last major update, but it would not be surprising if this game continues to support a healthy player base for years to come.
