CD Projekt Confirms It Wants More Works Like Cyberpunk Edgerunners

Perhaps the next few years will bring us a considerable expansion of the Cyberpunk universe and beyond. This is not just about games, but also possible TV shows. After the success of Edgerunners, CD Projekt RED's appetite for similar content seems to have increased considerably.

The Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime made its debut on Netflix on September 13, this year, and immediately won the affection, if not to say adoration, of quite a number of viewers. As a result, the series broke into the TOP 10 most watched productions of the of the streaming giant in many countries.

However, this is not the only success that has accompanied Edgerunners. The popularity of the anime has influenced, among other things, a renewed interest in Cyberpunk 2077. Not surprisingly, CD Projekt RED intends to forge the iron while it's hot.

During the presentation of the Polish company's financial results for the third quarter, representatives of the company were asked about a possible continuation of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (via VGC).

"We are not confirming any plans [for - ed. note] a second season of Edgerunners Or anything super specific," replied Michal Nowakowski, vice president for business development at CD Projekt.

However, this does not mean that the Reds do not have their sights set on further developing the popular universe and more in TV shows.

"We have an appetite for more transmedia, so linear animation or live-action productions, and these plans have not changed, so when we are ready, you can expect more information from our side," he added.

There are many indications that if the company decides to create another TV production, it will most likely not be a sequel to Edgerunners. Recall that some time ago the regional manager at CD Projekt RED, Satoru Honma, made it clear that Netflix's anime was planned as a closed, single-season story. Nevertheless, he left the door open for further cooperation with Japanese studios on future anime.
