One of the developers from CD Projekt RED explained why there is no New Game Plus mode in Cyberpunk 2077.
One of the features that fans have been asking for since the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, is the New Game Plus mode, which allows for replaying the story mode without losing character upgrades. Yesterday marked the release of patch 1.6 and the hopes of those waiting for the addition of this mode were once again dashed. CD Projekt RED level designer Miles Tost explained on Twitter why the team has not yet prepared the NG+ option.
Tost's explanation makes sense. Cyberpunk 2077 is a huge game, with tons of choices, locations and upgrades - both stats and cyberware, so adding a New Game Plus would not be an easy task. Of course, that doesn't mean that introducing this option wouldn't make sense, but it's not hard to understand why the developers haven't decided to do so for now. CP2077 debuted in a terrible technical condition and fixing the game (which is not yet over) must take priority over the introduction of NG+.
Recall that patch 1.6 was not the only highlight of last night's event. CD Projekt RED announced also the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC. The studio also released the REDmod tools, making it easier to install modifications.
