Players Want Changes in Diablo 2: Resurrected

A surver conducted on Reddit shows that the Diablo 2 community would definitely like to see more changes in Diablo 2: Resurrected that Vicarious Visions intends to implement in the remaster.

IN A NUTSHELL:
  1. A survey was organized on Reddit, asking about possible changes in the upcoming remaster;
  2. The vast majority of the Diablo community, to the surprise of many, are in favor of a liberal approach and changes that could appear in the game.

Diablo 2: Resurrected will debut this year, and as we learned during the announcement, the remaster will not implement too many changes to the game's mechanics, which met with a positive response from the community. But do gamers actually want the remastered version of the game to be identical to the original?

Two weeks ago, a survey appeared on Reddit, in which Diablo fans could answer several questions. User Chrompower wanted to find out if the community waiting for Diablo 2: Resurrected wants changes in game mechanics. And if so, then what changes would that be. Several hours ago the results of the survey were published, featuring answers of 4352 people, 99% of which had experience with Diablo 2 before . So we can treat the conclusions of the survey as a vote of the most devoted group of fans.

The results will be surprising for many. Over the years, the most hardcore group of gamers has always been reluctant to make any changes when refreshing games. In the case of Diablo 2: Resurrected, out of 23 questions asked, as many as 20 responses indicate the desire for changes. If you want to know the exact distribution of votes in each of the questions, we invite you to read the PDF with the results. Below we present a digest.

  2. The majority (58%) is for a seperate charm inventory, but charms should only work in that charm inventory, about one third (30%) is against a charm inventory;
  3. The biggest part (44%) is for an increased inventory space, but only in combination with a separate charm inventory where charms only work in that charm inventory, about one third (32%) is against an increased inventory space, 20% are for a bigger inventory size (no matter if they add a charm inventory or not);

The survey thus shows that the most conservative approach appear when it comes to possible changes to online seasons, which should not be surprising when there is a competitive element involved. A more liberal approach comes out when people will enjoy Diablo 2: Resurrected by playing solo, just for fun.

I can't deny that I would welcome some of the changes that appeared in the survey, and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that after the release the developers will consider continuing to support the game as requested by the community. And what do you think about the results of this survey?
