UPDATE

It turned out that the frequent dropping of special helmets from Helltide chests was an unintentional mistake by Blizzard. It was fixed by a hotfix that was released a few hours after we published this news.

Yesterday, in a special broadcast, Blizzard announced a host of new features awaiting Diablo fans. The element that met with the most euphoric reaction was the announcement of the start of the first season and its details. In addition, the developers announced a surprise for Diablo Immortal players, which turned out to be a completely new character class - Blood Knight.

In addition, the developers informed the community that some time after the transmission Diablo 4 will receive patch 1.0.4. The developers kept their word, and you can find the full list of changes here.

Update 1.0.4 for Diablo 4 - what does it introduce?

The main idea of the patch was to improve the reception of the game, by improving various elements and increasing game performance. The developers divided all the introduced changes into five categories.

Gameplay

The gameplay improvements relate to both the character skills and the operation of certain items. Additional effects, which often did not work during combat or were interrupted by certain player movements, were also improved.

Quests and dungeons

Changes to quests included mainly enemies that did not appear - but should have - due to numerous bugs, as well as "broken" items and the blocking of some quests in the logbook, even though we had successfully completed them earlier.

User interface

As for the UI, the fixes are related to the assignment of keys or buttons on controllers, as well as the display of various items related to items or earned rewards on the screen. In addition, the QR code linking the player's account to the console has been fixed.

Other

Changes in this category mainly concern bugs with the display of armor items of certain character classes in different locations and the appearance of some mounts. The dialogues of some NPCs and cutscenes, in which the protagonist or the character(s) they were talking to were often not visible, have also been improved. Improvements also extended to character leveling and scaling of goods in stores. What's more, graphics and camera work have been improved a bit.

Gameplay improvements

In this case, Blizzard made only 3 changes, which, however, seem to be very important for many players. These are primarily about Helltide chests, which can now contain unique items. The health points of bosses such as Vhenard, Brol and Cyhrach and the damage they inflict have also been reduced, and the crafting material limit has been increased from 9999 to 99999.

Players react to changes in Diablo 4

Update 1.0.4. really introduced a lot of improvements, however, compared to the news related to the launch of the first season in the hack'nslash from Blizzard and the announcement of a new class in Diablo Immortal, these changes passed without much notice. Except for those concerning gameplay improvements.

Players reacted positively to the news of a new way to acquire unique items, and on the subreddit dedicated to Diablo 4 has seen a ton of memes and screenshots confirming the drops from Helltide chests.

It is also worth recalling that we will get access to Helltide chests only when we reach the nightmare world difficulty level, which will enable us to earn Aberrant Cinders for killing monsters in certain locations. This will enable us to open special containers, guaranteeing the acquisition of unique loot, including Helltide chests.

Thus, it turns out that thanks to the latest update, getting into possession of one of the six most unique items has become much easier. This is especially true if you play as a barbarian or sorceress, since, as players point out, they previously had no special helmets to put on. Therefore the chance of these two character classes getting legendary headgear in drops is much higher than for other heroes.

"It seems that Blizzard botched the update. Since barbarians (and sorceresses?) don't have any unique helmets - other than those default - when helmet-containing Helltide chests are supposed to "drop" something, the only option are super-uniques, so that's what you'll end up with," writes Mordy_the_Mighty

It is not known whether Blizzard's "mistake" was intentional or not. What is known, however, is that players are acquiring numerous legendary helmets and upgrading their characters. Although powerful items significantly affect gameplay and - combined with a good aspect - can make it very easy, it is worth remembering that when the first season launches on July 20, everyone will be forced to start playing with a completely new character anyway.
