Today, Diablo IV received a new update, which means Season 3 has begun. This may be a good reason to return to Sanctuary for people who abandoned Blizzard's production, e.g. due to controversial decisions made by the developers. Season of the Construct not only introduces a new battle pass and unlockable rewards but also focuses on improving the balance of the gameplay.

What's new in Season 3?

Season 3 started today and similarly to the previous ones, will last 3 months. The new content is available to every owner of Diablo IV that completed the base campaign.

After creating a character for the season, you can without any additional payments, discover secrets connected to a new threat that appeared in Kehjistan, involving the Loom - an ancient technology designed by Zoltun Kull and Ayuzhan of Caldeum. Players looking for more can decide on buying one of two variants of the premium battlepass that unlocks access to additional rewards (free gamepass rewards are included in the paid battlepass) - the cheapest of these costs 1000 Platinum.

The new season for Diablo IV features, among others:

  1. a new plotline involving the actions of demon Malfas in Kehjistan;
  2. A Seneschal Companion, a Construct that will help our hero in battle;
  3. new quests, new dungeons, a boss, and new items to obtain as part of the chosen Battlepass;
  4. The Gauntlet - weekly dungeon with leaderboards.

The full list of novelties can be seen here.

Changes to the balance

As mentioned above, in addition to fresh seasonal content, Blizzard has seriously started to "fix" Diablo IV , which is not perfect in many respects - the most pressing issues seem to be the endgame, skill parameters, and rewards left by defeated enemies.

The first changes hit the game just today. The next major update is expected to appear in the middle of Season of the Construct, which is in about 1.5 month. The most significant changes that Diablo IV received with the new patch are:

  1. no need to fight with other players or perform PvP tasks to complete seasonal challenges from individual chapters;
  2. additional tabs in the Stash and the ability to navigate the character on PC with W-A-S-D keys;
  3. fixes to the skill tree (including the ability to return entire "paths" instead of individual skills or resetting the entire tree);
  4. strengthening the power of items that drop after killing enemies on higher difficulty levels - now you do not have to "farm" dungeons endlessly to obtain the most desirable pieces of equipment (although the power of unique "items" has not changed);
  5. Balance fixes to character classes, enemy statistics, and bonuses provided by items and skills.

It's worth mentioning that in addition to the aforementioned updates, some of the bugs related to dialogues or "skill conflicts" that players might have encountered have been fixed. You can check out the full list of technical changes here.

Let's also not forget that Diablo IV will soon receive ray tracing options. The update adding these functionalities is set to be released in March - although it was not specified exactly when - so still during the Season of the Construct.

It seems that the development of Diablo IV is heading in the right direction. It's clear that Blizzard is trying to attract new and old players even before the release of the first expansion, Vessel of Hatred.

Diablo IV is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S consoles and PC.
