Dungeons & Dragons 2 Movie Could be Made, but Paramount has One Mundane Condition

In 2023, audiences were able to watch really successful movie adaptations of video games. They definitely include Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which tried to be a spectacle both for fans of one of the oldest RPGs and for viewers not normally exposed to the Dungeons & Dragons universe.

However, the production failed in the box-office, raising questions about whether this otherwise successful movie will receive a sequel. It turns out that nothing is a foregone conclusion, as stated by Paramount CEO Brian Robbins. The condition that must be met for it to be made seems to be quite mundane, and at the same time will not surprise anyone (via Variety).

In a recent interview, Robbins revealed that as a label, Paramount needs to find a way to make the creation of the next Dungeons & Dragons movie cost less. This would suggest that Paramount is satisfied with its production so far. Therefore, the authorities would like to make another one, but for less money.

However, there is no denying that the smaller-than-expected profits from the movie may have resulted from the unfortunate release date, among other things. The movie had to compete with Super Mario Bros: The Movie. A high-profile marketing campaign was also not carried out, which may have prevented Honor Among Thieves to be seen by potential viewers who were previously unfamiliar with the universe.
