Dwarf Fortress (Steam Edition) - Modes; Legends Mode explained

Today was the launch of Dwarf Fortress on Steam. In this text we will explain all the modes. Find out what Legends Mode is.

Dwarf Fortress is a legendary game. Everyone has heard stories about its complexity and high level of difficulty. The version of this production that debuted on Steam is certainly more approachable for new players than the original, however, don't be under any illusions - you still have a lot of work ahead of you in getting to know this game. In this article, we'll discuss Dwarf Fortress modes. Find out what Legends Mode, Fortress Mode and Adventurer Mode are.

Fortress Mode

Fortress Mode is the 'traditional' (and probably default) way to play Dwarf Fortress. It involves developing your own dwarven settlement. You have to be prepared that you will have a lot of hard work ahead of you, and many times you will probably not survive for very long. However, every failure will teach you something new, so don't be discouraged.

Adventurer Mode

Adventurer mode was not added for the release of Dwarf Fortress on Steam. However, it is due to appear soon, so let's talk about it too. It involves you choosing a character and going on an adventure in the world of Dwarf Fortress, and even exploring places you know from Fortress Mode. This is a classic RPG mode. You will collect treasures, fight monsters and complete quests.

Legends Mode

Legends mode can be called the chronicle of your game. Every time you start a new game, certain events are drawn, which build up the history of the world. Your actions also have an impact on this story. It is in Legends mode that you can find out what has happened in the past.
