If you long for the golden era of real-time strategy, when Command and Conquer was breaking records of popularity, then you have something to look forward to. Dying Breed is an old-school RTS which draws handfuls from the strategies of the 1990s. The game is developed by Sarnayer and will be released under the banner of well-known publisher MicroProse.

Classics of the genre

Dying Breed, as the developers themselves present the game, takes us on a nostalgic journey to the times of the "first era of RTS". In this case, we will be thrown into the middle of a post-apocalyptic world, where, like in classic RTS games, we will have to expand our base, collect resources, explore the surroundings and fend off aggressor attacks on hostile terrain.

All this is garnished with a stylized pixel-art setting and a dynamic soundtrack.

We don't quite know what dangers we will face, but the trailer suggests at least three types of opponents - humanoid monsters (zombies?), worm-like creatures attacking from underground and fast four-legged creatures. More challenges are certainly waiting in store, however.

Dying Breed is expected to offer players a real challenge, at least that's what the developers assure us:

"Immerse yourself in a world where every decision matters. Choose units carefully plan your moves and flawlessly execute your strategies. Only the best will survive. Fast-paced battle tactics will test your resolve."

No release date has been announced either, but the developers have already made a free demo available for download (here). For more information about the game, we refer you to the Steam tab of Dying Breed.
