Earthblade is the New Game From Celeste and TowerFall Devs

Developers of Celeste announced that their next project will be the platform game Earthblade. Unfortunately, everything seems to indicate that we'll have to wait a long time for the game.

Extremely OK Games studio, known from Celeste, has announced its next project. It turned out to be Earthblade, which is described as a two-dimensional open-world fantasy platform game.

Unfortunately, the information provided by the devs is very modest, because so far they focused only on presenting the atmosphere of the game by publishing artwork and one music track. We know that Earthblade will emphasize both exploration and combat, and the graphics will be use pixel-art.

The developers claim that the game's atmosphere will be very mysterious, so the gradual disclosure of details about the project fits well with its character. Above all, however, they wanted to give fans the project's final title, so they could stop using the temporary name EXOK4, under which we knew the new game until now.

The devs warn that no more details will be released for now, and the first gameplay shouldn't be expected anytime soon. Earthblade is not an easy project. The developers needed as many as four prototypes to finally find solutions that satisfied them.

One of the creators recalled a story from shortly after Celeste's release. On some online forums, someone delighted with the game stated that they were excited about the prospect of the studio's next project. In response, a more experienced fan of the team, who had been following Extremely OK Games since TowerFall, warned that everyone should brace themselves for a five-year wait. At the time, the developers thought that was a gross exaggeration. Now, however, the situation is different. It's been over three years since Celeste's debut, and the team isn't at all confident that Eearthbalde will be released in another two. This means fans of the studio should arm themselves with patience, because they will need it very much.
