Elex 2 is happening - the sequel has been approved for EU grant

Whether Elex is going to be successful, we do not know. We do know, however, that Piranha Bytes is already making serious plans for Elex 2.

Although Elex is not out yet, Piranha Bytes is already planning its sequel. Elex 2 has been listed as a project eligible for a financial grant by European Union’s Creative Europe MEDIA program (spotted by gameswirtschaft.de). The game has been approaved for a grant of up to €150,000, which is 9% of its whole budget.

By the way, other noteworthy projects approved for the grant are: Little Orpheus by The Chinese Room (Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, Dear Esther), Superlatent by Daedalic Entertainment (Deponia series) and Dreamtime by 11 bit studios (This War of Mine). Here’s the document listing all eligible titles, including Elex 2 at the position 29.

As for Elex, we still aren’t sure what to think about it. Those who loved the Gothic and Risen series are probably eager to play the next action-RPG from the German developer. Sadly, some of the game’s previews aren’t very optimistic, pointing out old technological solutions and poor narrative, at least in the prologue. However, we are definitely going to give it a try. Elex is coming out on October 17, 2017 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
